Troubleshoot

Only the symptom is shown. Objectives stay hidden until they pass, and hints are progressive.

  1. STEP 1

    Observe

Read the symptom and the canvas: link colours and device status dots come from the simulator.

  2. STEP 2

    Gather evidence

Run commands (ipconfig, ping, show vlan brief…) from the affected device outward.

  3. STEP 3

    Hypothesise

Which layer fails? Physical, VLAN, addressing, routing, name resolution, policy?

  4. STEP 4

    Change one thing

Make a single targeted change in the inspector.

  5. STEP 5

    Retest

Repeat the failing test. Hidden checks turn green as they pass.

  6. STEP 6

    Explain

Pick the root cause before scoring. Diagnosing first earns a bonus; trial-and-error costs XP.
