VLAN Configuration
Switching
Overview
Access ports normally carry one endpoint VLAN. Trunks carry multiple VLANs with 802.1Q tags except configured native behavior. Both ends need compatible allowed VLANs. Changing an endpoint IP cannot repair a VLAN mismatch. Inter-VLAN routing requires a layer-3 interface for each segment.
Protocol stages
- 1Access VLAN
- 2Trunk tagging
- 3Allowed list
- 4Gateway interface
