Network Topologies
Network Fundamentals
Overview
A star centralizes links at a switch; a ring connects neighbors; a mesh adds redundant paths. Physical topology describes cabling, while logical topology describes how frames flow. Redundancy can create Ethernet loops unless a loop-prevention design exists.
