IPv6 Autoconfiguration: NDP, SLAAC & DHCPv6
Subnetting
Overview
NDP uses ICMPv6 for neighbor and router discovery. Router Advertisements communicate default-router information and prefixes. An autonomous /64 prefix can enable SLAAC; DHCPv6 can provide addresses or other configuration depending on deployment. DHCPv6 does not replace RA default-route discovery. Duplicate Address Detection checks uniqueness.
