QoS Traffic Management

Routing

Networking labs

Overview

QoS classifies and marks traffic, then applies queuing, shaping or policing during contention. Low-latency queues can protect real-time media but need limits so other traffic is not starved. Markings must be trusted only at controlled boundaries; QoS cannot create missing bandwidth.

Protocol stages

  1. 1Classify
  2. 2Mark / trust
  3. 3Queue
  4. 4Schedule
  5. 5Transmit
