Routing Protocols Matrix
Routing
Overview
Static routes are manually defined. OSPF uses link-state shortest paths within an autonomous system; BGP exchanges reachability with policy between peers; RIP is a distance-vector protocol with hop-count limits. Select a protocol for scale, policy, failure behavior and administrative boundaries.
